Dr. Francis William Short was born and raised in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. He attended the University of Delaware, where he received a degree in engineering. He worked as a structural engineer for five years before returning to school in pursuit of his childhood aspirations: to become an orthodontist.
His engineering background gave him unique insight into the physics and material science of dentistry and orthodontics. As an avid sailor and surfer, Dr. Short decided that Florida would be a great place to practice, thus he attended dental school and orthodontic residency at Nova Southeastern University in South Florida, where he graduated first in class and was chief resident. After practicing in Florida for two years, Dr. Short and his wife moved back to New Jersey in order to be close to family and friends.
He currently serves as president of the Atlantic-Cape May County Dental Society, and is a member of the New Jersey Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontists. Dr. Short is a founding member of the Southern New Jersey Damon Study Club and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. He does volunteer work with the Brendan Borek High Tides Memorial Fund and Habitat for Humanity. He is a public lecturer and published author.
Currently in his fifth year of practice, Dr. Short enjoys every day of making smiles beautiful and straight.
